Motorcycle Rider Training

 

Stage 1 - Basic Handling Skills Test   

  • You need to pass this test and take the certificate to sit your Class 6 Learners Licence test at AA or VTNZ.

  • You can then fasttrack onto your Restricted licence (see Stage 2) or hold your Learners Licence for six months.

Stage 2 - CBTA Class 6 Restricted (Competency Based Training and Assessment)                                                          

  • The CBTA scheme means you avoid the 6 months period on your 6L.

  • This stage can be undertaken the same day you pass your learner’s licence if you are a competent rider or if you undertake training with me.

  • This is an on-road practical riding test, go to the CBTA page and find the “CBTA Motorcycle Course Guide”, this will explain everything.                                         

  • You need to pass this test and then take the certificate to AA or VTNZ.                    

 

 

Stage 3 - CBTA Class 6 Full (Competency Based Training and Assessment)                                                       

  • The CBTA scheme means you can shorten the 18 months you need to be on your 6R licence to 12 months.

  • This is an on-road practical riding test, go to the CBTA page and find the “CBTA Motorcycle Course Guide”, this will explain everything. This way you will avoid the six month period on your 6L.

  • You need to pass this test and then take the certificate to AA or VTNZ.
